So yeah, this isn't my normal. And not what you will normally find here on my blog. LOL.
Today I'm donating my blog to a really awesome ministry for young ladies. A lot of good friends of mine are involved in putting this conference together and making it everything that it is. I'm excited about the chance to spread the word for them a little here. If you are a young lady and haven't heard of this I would encourage you to check it out. If you know anyone who might be interested please pass this on. Even if the only way you can think to spread the word is facebook, do it! I'm sure it would be greatly appreciated. Now, I'll leave the rest to Laurie.
Dear Friends,
We live in a society where being a Christian girl is becoming increasingly difficult and where the majority simply settle for an added dose of Christianity to their self-absorbed, self-indulgent lives. The challenges facing today’s young people are overwhelming and the statistics prove staggering: 17% of abortions are obtained by teenage girls between the ages of 12-18. 1 out of every 100 young women between 13-20 years old are starving themselves, accounting for 90% of all anorexia statistics. Sadly, 1 out of every 4 Evangelical Christian girls admit they question God's very existence. Broken relationships, fear, depression, rejection and guilt are all too common struggles even among "Christian" young women.
In a broken world full of darkness, we would like to offer hope and Light! It is our goal and mission to help girls realize their ultimate purpose in life and to reach the full potential of who God created them to be. Our desire is to encourage young ladies in their walk with the Lord and help them realize that true freedom, peace, and joy is possible in their everyday lives through Christ!
Here are a few testimonies of how this conference has impacted lives:
"I came as a leader, an adult, but God still showed me how He has tried to speak to me for years. I had a very trying time during my college years and turned my back on God. However, He was waiting for me to return the whole time. Today He reminded me that He has forgiven me and He loves me so much. It's easy to say to others that God loves them and forgives them. It's totally different to believe it for yourself. I thank God for His love and forgiveness. He waited for me while I continued to serve myself and He was standing there still waiting. Thank you for showing these girls they're not alone! It's hard to see that in our time!"
"I learned that who I am is not about my circumstances, how I feel, who people say that I am. I need to be bathed in who God says I am and to live in that truth."
"I have been struggling to get back on track with my relationship with God for the past couple of months and realized today that I need to confess to my parents what I have had trapped in my heart."
Our next conference will be held March 26th, 2011 at Calvary Baptist Church of Smyrna, GA located only 15 miles north of Atlanta.
This conference is for ages 12 through college age. Moms are welcome!
