Passion for Jesus Conference

So yeah, this isn't my normal. And not what you will normally find here on my blog. LOL.
Today I'm donating my blog to a really awesome ministry for young ladies. A lot of good friends of mine are involved in putting this conference together and making it everything that it is. I'm excited about the chance to spread the word for them a little here. If you are a young lady and haven't heard of this I would encourage you to check it out. If you know anyone who might be interested please pass this on. Even if the only way you can think to spread the word is facebook, do it! I'm sure it would be greatly appreciated. Now, I'll leave the rest to Laurie.

Dear Friends,

We live in a society where being a Christian girl is becoming increasingly difficult and where the majority simply settle for an added dose of Christianity to their self-absorbed, self-indulgent lives. The challenges facing today’s young people are overwhelming and the statistics prove staggering: 17% of abortions are obtained by teenage girls between the ages of 12-18. 1 out of every 100 young women between 13-20 years old are starving themselves, accounting for 90% of all anorexia statistics. Sadly, 1 out of every 4 Evangelical Christian girls admit they question God's very existence. Broken relationships, fear, depression, rejection and guilt are all too common struggles even among "Christian" young women.

In a broken world full of darkness, we would like to offer hope and Light! It is our goal and mission to help girls realize their ultimate purpose in life and to reach the full potential of who God created them to be. Our desire is to encourage young ladies in their walk with the Lord and help them realize that true freedom, peace, and joy is possible in their everyday lives through Christ!

Here are a few testimonies of how this conference has impacted lives:

"I came as a leader, an adult, but God still showed me how He has tried to speak to me for years. I had a very trying time during my college years and turned my back on God. However, He was waiting for me to return the whole time. Today He reminded me that He has forgiven me and He loves me so much. It's easy to say to others that God loves them and forgives them. It's totally different to believe it for yourself. I thank God for His love and forgiveness. He waited for me while I continued to serve myself and He was standing there still waiting. Thank you for showing these girls they're not alone! It's hard to see that in our time!"

"I learned that who I am is not about my circumstances, how I feel, who people say that I am. I need to be bathed in who God says I am and to live in that truth."

"I have been struggling to get back on track with my relationship with God for the past couple of months and realized today that I need to confess to my parents what I have had trapped in my heart."

Our next conference will be held March 26th, 2011 at Calvary Baptist Church of Smyrna, GA located only 15 miles north of Atlanta.

This conference is for ages 12 through college age. Moms are welcome!

The Passion4Christ Summit 2010

A few weeks ago I was asked to consider going to Peru and all I had to do was get $800 for my flight. We would be working with the government officials and all kinds of cool stuff and they needed a photographer. I started really praying about my decision to go or not. I didn't know if this was something he wanted me to do or if there was something better. (With God something better is always possible. We just have to believe.) Well, LONG story short, I wasn't really getting a peace about going to Peru. I told God that I was more than willing if he would just show me what he wanted for me. I just asked him to provide the $800 if he wanted me to go. Guess what, it didn't show up. Was that a bummer for me? No. I totally had a peace that God was working out something better but I had no clue what was he was doing. I only knew he is always looking for the best opportunities for those who are willing. Well, no more had I called to let the team know I wasn't going to make it this time to Peru that a peace just came over me that that was the right decision. Then the very next day I missed a call from Vision4Living Ministries. As soon as I saw that I missed their call I knew what was up. Somehow I knew that their photographer probably couldn't make it to their Passion4Christ Summit and that they were in need of a photographer now. Sure enough, I called them back and I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that this was the will of the Lord. Just too awesome! This was a journey for me that really blessed me in tons of special ways that are too numerous to list. I did tons of things I had been wanting to do all year that I hadn't had time for including blessing a ministry with my photography and meeting more people! I LOVE people so much!

This is what I've been learning recently and learned even while at this Passion4Christ Summit.

Jesus' heart is good toward me all the time and always beyond our wildest and most daring dreams! It has NOTHING to do with what we deserve and EVERYTHING to do with His love, goodness and mercy.

Mr. Novotny brings every challenging reality with loads of fun! This man has blessed me so much! I love his passion to see young man and women succeed!

Jeff and Leah really blessed everyone there as they shared openly about their life and how God brought them together. They have a passion as a couple to see guy to girl relationships come together and be what God wants for them instead of just playing the games and avoiding the hard conversations. They have a desire to see man be responsible and make decisions and not get taken out by fear.

The Vision4Living Ministry did a awesome Job making this a extremely meaningful and yet fun weekend for these singles. (Read more about it here on their blog about this weekend.) What a blessing to be a part of this awesome ministry and capture what God was doing there in so many lives. I really couldn't get over how many people were coming up talking about how much God had showed them that week and how much they felt healing taking place in their own hearts and lives from things they heard or did.

Time alone with Him and with other like-minded believers really is a wonderful thing. I am in favor of them doing this conference twice a year instead of just once. All in favor leave a comment! If you attended this year please leave a short comment below for other readers who didn't get to go this year who might consider going next year. Thanks!
