Signs and humility

There is something totally humbling about seeing a sign and obeying it. It doesn't have to be a sign, it could be something simple like a sheet of music, a recipe, a simple system at work that your employer would have you to follow exactly. Yet what is it in us that drive us to WANT to do just the opposite of the quiet prompting of that small sign?

Signs give us direction.

Signs are easily made fun of... and yet they are there for a reason.

And this picture shows my point better than all of the others. As I was getting ready to write this post I was trying to remember all the pictures of signs I've taken over the years and this one came to mind right away. I'm amazed at how I'm obviously even pushing hard with my finger.

I want to share something with you all that really has blessed me as I'm going through some things in my life that I read from a book that my best and dearest friend gave me sometime ago.

"Today, as your heart seeks the lowly place, humility will move your toward everything that is good and away from everything that is evil. Humility is the pathway of every servant's journey. Humility is the road map that guides you to God's unconditional love, and it is the sign that points you to the vast treasure of His abundant grace.

Humility allows you to see your weakness and embrace God's strength; it allows you to see your insufficiency and embrace His righteousness; it allows you to see your lack and embrace His supply.

Humility is the place of freedom where your spirit soars, where your love is perfected, and where God's richest blessings abound. Rivers never run from the valley to the mountaintop, but they always seek the lowest place, the place of least resistance. Today, as your heart is yielded to the Lord in humility, the river of the Holy Spirit will flood in and fill you to overflowing with peace, and flow out through you to bless the lives of others."

I Peter 5:5
Likewise, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”

Signing off for today. God bless your socks off,

  4. Truth right there. And humility comes not from *comparing* ourselves or beating ourselves up but from realizing who our God is and accepting the mercy He shows us.

  5. Thanks your post was read at the time I needed to remember that nothing happens in God's World by mistake and that everything in my world is exactly as God would have it, who am I to believe it should be otherwise. There are reasons that I cannot see.
