So I've been thinking a lot of that phrase recently, "The best camera is the one that is in your hand." I really like the idea a lot and love the truth behind it. But then the question inside me is, "Can I really perform that truth in me?" So recently I've been trying that from time to time by pulling out my 5D Mark II and my 50mm f/1.4 and taking some images then pulling out my iphone and taking some images too to see if I can still get something that I think is pretty cool.
It's been a fun little challenge and I am really enjoying it. I'm a huge fan of coming up with things to do to just grab my camera and push myself a little. If there was one thing I could say to photographers, it is to practice practice practice. It's not just about having an eye for photography, it's about doing it so it's second nature. And in this case this is an exercise in doing something amazing no matter what the tools are that are in my hand.

These top three images are from my DSLR. And the last one if from my iphone and the editing was all done on my phone with the exception of my name on the image.
Quick update on my upcoming workshop Oct. 5 2010. It looks like I'm about full of students. There are a couple on the fence still so if you are still interested I could put your name on the list. But I'm amazed at how fast people jumped on it. Thanks everyone for spreading the word by posting the links, the re-tweets on twitter and conversations you have had with photographers you think could learn from this.
You can see a few more images here on my fan page.
If you would like a copy of these images you can get them here.
