Reflections are cool

I was having a hard time figuring out what to name the post today. I couldn't decide if I wanted to name it what I did, or name it "Shiny Things!" I love both. But I figured based on the images I'm showing today I'll just save "Shiny Things!" for another day... like tomorrow, maybe.

Rain has it's advantages.

The Bean and me

Rain drops were falling on my head...but not on hers. Here is one of the images I just took during the workshop last Saturday.
Taking cover under the Chicago Bean from the rain. Usually swarming with tourists, it's actually very peaceful here when it's early in the morning and raining hard. I like the feeling
of peace I get from this image.

You may also purchase a copy of this image here too.

Look, it's me!
Image credit goes to Jack McDonnell. Yes, I got permission to use this image.
He actually wrote a bit about the time we spent here. Check it out on his blog.

Teaching photography downtown

Jack McDonnell (on left in image below) has been asking me to pull together some time to show him some of my tips and tricks for a while now and it finally worked out that this last Saturday was the day. Jack is a young creative who is already showing promising talent in the area of photography.

We started with a early morning session in Chicago with the purpose of just sharing any knowledge I have that he could benefit from. And then to focus on the photo editing aspect which also included workflow and a few other things to help keep our photography running smoothly. I thought it worked out great because we had fresh images to work through, organize, rate, sort...and finally edit.

Rob Bennett (second from left in image below), an instructor for young aspiring photographers, is also a great friend who was just wanting a chance to hang out and learn a few things about Lightroom and editing images. Trust me, he wasn't there to learn anything about how to take a picture from me.

Rain wasn't our idea of good weather at first, but in the end, we had a good combination for a good time.  And I think we walked away with something amazing!

Millennium Park. Taken with my iPhone for my Twitter.

The 5D Mk II made me proud.
Served me for 3.5 hours in the rain with no problems at all!

Inside the bean.

We're not afraid of the rain.

I taught Lightroom from 11:23-5:33 without stopping.
I love teaching! Next to photography, teaching photography is the best!
(Obviously my iPhone took most of the images in this post.)

After all that work with no breakfast, no lunch, and lots of walking in between,
it was time for real food. So we did the Grand Lux. This is the Rustic Lasagna.
It's not often that with every bite I feel blessed to be eating such a dish.
This is a must if you've never had it!

Rustic Lasagna
Pasta Layered with Fresh Mushrooms, Chicken, Spinach and Cheese,
all covered in a Creamy Roasted Tomato Sauce

I'll be posting more photos from the class of the Chicago Bean, Jack and Rob. I hope you stay tuned throughout the week.

Last chance ends today.

Please don't get upset with me for showing this AGAIN! But It's the last chance for anyone who might want to get on board. Auction ends today

This framed image of Donner Lake is now up to $51.00 on ebay! I'm so excited and grateful! It's a $250.00 value, and if you would like to join in support you can bid by clicking here. You can read about why I'm doing this fundraiser here on my recent post.

I know that not everyone can afford to bid on this image. But I would really like to ask all those of you who would like to still be a part of this work in a smaller way to give a gift to this ministry of any amount anyways. Just $5 or $10 could make a huge difference. That's a big way to be a part of this trip. And it will be greatly appreciated. Donations can be made though paypal to Thomas Teh, Director of IBLP Singapore. The email address to send donations to via Paypal is tteh@sg.iblp.org, and the name that will appear on the receipt is Society of Basic Life Principles.

Thank you all so much for putting up with me as I get all excited about this years trip. I do hope you realize that I'm not looking to get anything out of it for myself. All proceeds will go straight to the organization to fund this opportunity that will not only bless those less fortunate but will also change the lives of the young people who will be traveling there.

It finally came!!! :D

Yesterday I opened my brand new 32GB 3GS iphone. :D (As seen below still in the wrapper.)

Doesn't it fit in my hand so well that it looks like it was made for it? HAHA. And your response to that should be (in a scratchy, high-pitched grandmother voice), "As much as you paid for it, it ought to, deary. Does it dance too?"

Yes, this is real. It's not an April Fool's joke. And I think I like it a lot.
I do hope it enables me to better keep tabs on all the little things
that are so easily lost and forgotten.

Cremè Brûlèe, a thing of joy.

Last night my sister-in-law, Jenny, made the most amazing Cremè Brûlèe for my brother Konner's birthday dinner. And. it. was. AMAZING!
Torching it.

Careful, it's hot. ;)
Yummy, I wish it wasn't already gone.

What Jenny makes we eat! It's that simple.
And yes, it makes us very happy.

Finished product!

It's a good thing I took the pictures when I did because in like 2 minutes they were all gone. :)

As I've mentioned in more detail in my recent post, I've put this print up for auction to raise support for the members of this year's team. All the proceeds will go straight to the SEA 2010 team. Bid on this framed (black frame), display-ready image of Donner Lake by clicking here. If you click back a few post you will actually see several more post about the ministry opportuninty I'm referring too.
