Port Clinton, OH. Playing around with Flash

So I was chillin' with my bros and Sister-in-law last weekend trying my hand at some of the stuff I learned in Chicago at the Showitfast Freedom tour for photographers that Thursday. It was pretty fun!

It was right in the middle of the day and as we all know, light in the middle of the day is horrible. Well, it was time to play around with my flash and see what I could come up with.

After I had a few successful self-portraits it was time to try it on the family. 

Starting with Blake

Then my oldest brother, Shane

Then Blake again, 

This shot has nothing to do with a flash... but I thought it was a cool sign. I don't know why. lol.

Light makes the image? YES!

Notice the huge difference between the one with the extra light and the one without the extra light. :) Better isn't it? All the settings are exactly the same in camera and in the photo editing. The ONLY difference is the light. Well, I'm enjoying that cup o' Chia Latte as I'm writing this. :D Sorry you can't be drinking one while you are reading this too!

Amie Moreland & Logan Anderson

After talking with Amie about what she liked, I really knew we needed sunny, warm, fairytale type weather if we were going to pull off something amazing for her engagement session. I'm not going to lie, I was a little worried that we were going to get rained out. Not that I didn't think we couldn't get cool pictures in the rain, it's just that it's not exactly what she wanted and that is not what I wanted.

Well, wouldn't you know it, God answered my prayers and blessed us with the clouds breaking up enough that we ended up with some awesome light. It was a total BLAST! Everything just felt so magical.

Here are just a few quick images for now. I hope to post some more soon. :) As always, stay tuned!!

Amy & Logan were totally easy and fun to work with! And they put up with lots of crazy ideas too. But it was fun and we totally had a blast.
